First Holga pics are in!

posted in Photography

Not too shabby for my first time using the Holga 120N. I put in a standard 35mm 200 ISO Fujifilm roll. I used a 35mm adapter. I will shoot 120 (medium format) at some point, but wanted to get a bit of practice with the basics first.

Here are some of the better shots from my very first roll.

Flowers (Holga 120N)

Georgia National Cemetery (Holga 120N)

Light-leaked Rosa (Holga 120N)

Lake Allatoona (Holga 120N)

I’ve never cried for a camera…until today

Nikon D80 Cracked

It’s a sad sad day.

My 35mm prime lens was also mounted on and damaged. It won’t auto-focus anymore. I may sell it on eBay as a damaged lens and hopefully get something for it to invest in a new one.

The good news is the camera appears to be working fine. Seems to be mostly external damage. I’ll be sending it in for repair. Next time, I’ll probably insure my SLR.

The Treasure Hunt is On! Yashica-Mat EM

posted in Life | Photography

While at my parents’, I asked my father if he happened to have any old film cameras lying around the house. He just revealed to me he has a Yashica-Mat EM still in the box from when he purchased it in the 60′s!!! The only problem is, my father is a hoarder. Finding this camera in his hoarding stash will be like finding a needle in a haystack, but at least we know it’s there. So the treasure hunt ensues.

I’m sooooo excited to give this little gem a try and dabble in some film photography.

Once we find the camera I will post pics of the real deal! But this is what we’ll be looking for:

Post-Processing Tutorial of a Self-Portrait

posted in Freebies | Photography

Below is a simple walk-through on how I achieved the look in my “Incognito” self-portrait. When browsing through my set of images, sometimes it takes me a while to realize the potential in an image. I force myself to visualize how the images will look if I try cropping them a different way. The composition can really make a mediocre image a GREAT image
